William Danylchuk

UMA Hall of Fame Inductee

Born on March 7, 1944 in Zhoda , Manitoba

Died on May 27, 2014, at Ste. Anne Hospital, Ste. Anne, Manitoba

A great musician has passed away after a short battle with cancer at the age of 70.  William will forever be remembered for his musical talent.  He started playing the accordion at a very young age.  The accordion was the musical instrument required to complete the “put together” family band of his older siblings:  Mike, Walter and Alex Danylchuk.  William had a true passion for the accordion; the msic which it generated and the joy that it brought to listeners.  He often referred to his accordion as a “Party in a Box”.

Indeed, music played a major role in his life.  William played with the Frazer River Boys for over 50 years at weddings, anniversaries and various celebrations and functions throughout Manitoba, Ontario and Saskatchewan.  Ukrainian music was, no doubt, the group's specialty.

William knew at a very young age that the talent he has received from God was meant to be shared, and he gave of himself willingly to entertain at Seniors' homes, at various churches, his Parish, Notre Dame de Lorette and sing-alongs.  He was able to strike a musical relationship with anyone who wanted to play an instrument along with him.

William, may you rest in peace surrounded by all those musicians (accordionists) that have predeceased you.  May you be graced with God's abundant and infinite love.  The world is a better place to live because of your earthly contribution to all humanity.
