Peter Citulski

Peter Citulski

UMA Hall of Fame Inductee

Peter was always involved with music right from a young age. Peter was versed in the violin, tsymbala and guitar. He was taught alongside his brother Ernie by his great Uncle Steve and lessons were a few times per week. Originally Peter would play violin and Ernie would play tsymbala. Eventually these roles would reverse and later in life Peter would play tsymbala in numerous bands and Ernie would play violin.

In 1956 Peter and Ernie would join together and play their first dance as a two man band. Peter caught the performance bug and would play many more dances in his time.

In the early 1970's, Peter would form the Harmony Ranch Boys with Ernie and their longtime friends Clint Yakewchuk and Marshall Maksymuk. They were a weddings and socials band. As they went along, numerous guest performers would join the band to make a social event special.

In the late 1970's, the Citulsky's band was formed consisting of Peter, Ernie, Marshall Maksymuk and Michelle Zemliak. In 1982 they were joined by Bill, Anne and Alice in time to record their first album "Citulsky Family Favorites". The Citulskys would end up recording two more albums in 1985, "More Family Favorites" and "Favorites from Seech Lake."

The Citulsky's would be awarded in Music Assocation Golden Achievement Award in 2005 and the Ledendary Achievement Award in 2010. Their music is still played on the radio today.

Peter and Jean were active in both the Brandon and Orthodox Choir and the Rivers Ukrainian Society Choir. With the Brandon Choir they would perform across the priaries at various events including the legislative building as well as in Saskatoon and Regina.

The Rivers Ukrainian Society Choir would perform around Rivers and would record a tape of Ukrainain Christmas carols in approximately 2006.
