8 JULY, 1954 – 15 OCTOBER, 2013

2013 UMA Hall of Fame Inductee

One of Danny's many passions was Ukrainian music.  He purchased a dulcimer for one of his boys and low and behold in 1984 he started teaching himself to play.  After helpful hints and tips from other talented musicians and lots of practice he became a confident dulcimer player.

With the heart and dedication he displayed he entered into a dulcimer competition on May 31, 1985 which took place at the Red Barn just outside of Edmonton and brought home the first place trophy.  This event gave him the incentive to push himself even further into a musical adventure.  Dan first started his playing career with the band Rhythm Kings.

In 1985 Danny started his won band called Royal Aces Four.  Wesley, his oldest son started playing accordion in the band in 1988.  In 1990 Lesley started playing drums in the band.  Ashley then joined in 1991.  They played many venues together including wedding, anniversaries, Christmas parties and even garage warming parties from British Columbia to Saskatchewan.

The Royal Aces Four made their first album in 1985 titled Ukrainian Favorites.  After all the family joined the band the second album was recorded in 1992 titled Party Time.

After many years of enjoying Ukrainian Music, Dan was privileged to play on stage with three generations including Lesley's son Austin.  Shortly after this event Dan was diagnosed with Cancer.  After a lengthy battle Dan passed away October 15, 2013.

His love and passion for Ukrainian music will be remembered for many years to come.
