Gerry started playing accordion at the age of nine.

Gerry took lessons from Lowe's Music Studios.

At age 13 Gerry was featured for 1/2 hour on the CKY's Dayton Program.

Gerry played with many musicians and bands throughout the years, including Jim Gregorash, Steve and Adolph Podaima, Mike Grywinski and many others. 

In 1960 Gerry joined the Al Millar Band and continued until 1970.

Gerry made a LP recording with him, with Who Stole the Keeshka being the popular number.

Gerry started The Versatiles in 1970 with Orest Podworny, George Dymont, Ron Hanushchak, and Peter Proskurnik.

The band played hundreds of Ukrainian Wedding in most of the major hotels and halls in Winnipeg and rural areas.

The band also played large function for Manitoba Telephones and Manitoba Hydro on a number of occasions. 

In 1978 was asked to play for the guests of Princess Anne's Royal Train in Shilo and Brandon Manitoba.

Recently cut a CD which was a tribute to Tommy Buick featuring Steve Myk, Al Sobkowich, Paul Pododworny and Gerry Krawchuk.
