Mike Paskaruk

1930 - 2012.  

Mike Paskaruk played drums with the Original Polka Kings. 

Mike Paskaruk passed away on June 15th, 2012 in his 81st year of life. 

Mike was born on July 21st, 1930, in Griffin in the RM of Grandview. Mike had a passion for music and played with The Original Polka Kings, who together made the instruments sing!

These boys started playing way back in 1949 and coined the name The Original Polka Kings. His music spanned many generations and was enjoyed by everyone. 

Mike Paskaruk! The Kolomayka  singer!  Oh those verses. Wow!!! Beat the drums an I mean, Beat the drums like the devil himself was after him. 

Without him, there just wasn't any music. You can be one country mile away from the hall and on a Saturday night you could hear him already. 

In recognition to Mike's legacy of Ukrainian music. We are recognizing his contribution by inducting Mike into the Ukrainian Music Hall of Fame. 

And now his musical memories reside in the place that was once a major part of his musical career.
