Victor Holubowich

    **  2015 Lifetime Achievement Award **

Victor was born on November 30th, 1943 and raised in the Myrnam, Alberta area.  Victor first attended a country school, called South River School, and later continued his education in the town of Myrnam.  At an early age of approximately 12 years, he developed an interest in music.  His interest soon led to the purchase of an Accordion, in where he immediately knew that this was the instrument that he would like to play.

Due to his love for playing music, especially Ukrainian Music, it did not take very long for Victor to learn to play the Accordion.  He was self taught and with in a very short time, was actually ready and capable to play with other local more experienced musicians.

Over the next number of years, Victor had the opportunity to play with several different Orchestras.  In 1970, he  formed his own group of fine musicians, which was called “Victor Holubowich and the Royal-Lites”.  Once again, with in a short period of time, the ”Royal-Lites” became very popular and performed to thousand of fans throughout Western Canada.  Their popularity led the group to take interest in mastering a number of recordings of Ukrainian Song and Music.  Some of the recorded material is original and appears to please the general listening audiences, however Victor is most proud to present his Composition of the “Feature Waltz” which has practically gone world wide and being played by many, many other musicians throughout.
