Bill Semeniuk

Bill Semeniuk was an active pioneer musician, was born in Smoky Lake, AB, March 2nd, 1939. He has contributed 60 years of dulcimer music in Alberta and surrounding provinces. I really marvel at the way he managed to demonstrate the skills he had always displayed on his dulcimer. Bill was the only dulcimer player who covered his dulcimer strings with a tea towel and played a tune.

Bill was 14 years old when he played with a friend for the first time. It was with the Metro Radomski Band. Both as a musician and as an individual, Bill Semeniuk reflects the best of the Ukrainian musical heritage in Alberta. His inclusion in the Ukrainian Association Hall of Fame would be a fitting recognition and honour for the music Bill has shared with us over the 60 years.
